Product badges

The theme has two separate badge systems. The Product badges panel in Theme settings styles your custom badges (your own labels, like "Bestseller") and points to the metafield their text comes from. Those custom badges show on product cards, in collection grids and search. The Status badges block puts automatic flags (Sale, Sold out) on the product page, and it keeps its own fixed look that the panel does not change.

Product badges panel

This panel lives under Theme settings > Product badges. It styles your custom badges and points to the metafield that holds their text.

• Style: the look of your custom badges on product cards.
  • Glass: a frosted, semi-transparent badge. This is the default.
  • Solid: a flat, filled badge.
• Badges metafield: the product metafield that holds your custom badge text. It reads a list metafield (single-line text), for example custom.badges. Each value in the list becomes a badge. Restrict the metafield to preset choices in its definition so staff pick from a fixed list instead of typing free text.

The Badges metafield setting points the theme at the metafield, but it does not create the badge text. You add the words (for example "Limited" or "Bestseller") per product in the Shopify admin, on each product's metafield.

Status badges block

Status badges is a block that shows automatic flags (Sale, Sold out) derived from a product's state on the product page. Its look is fixed and is not affected by the Style setting above. Its settings are documented with the other product page blocks: see Product features and status badges.

Tips

• Style changes your custom badges on product cards. The Status badges flags (Sale, Sold out) on the product page keep their own look regardless of this setting.
• Automatic badges (Sale, Sold out) come from the Status badges block and product state. Custom badges (your own labels) come from the Badges metafield you set in the panel. Use the metafield for wording the theme cannot infer, like "New", "Limited", or "Bestseller".
