Age verification

The Age verification panel adds a full-page gate before shoppers can enter the store. A shopper who confirms is remembered for 30 days in that browser. This is a storefront prompt, not a way to verify a person's identity or date of birth.

Where to find it

  1. In the theme editor, open Theme settings.
  2. Select Age verification.
  3. Turn on Enable age verification.

Content and preview

  • Show in theme editor: displays the gate in the editor preview. Confirming it in the editor does not remember the choice, so you can preview it again after a reload.
  • Color scheme: applies one of your theme color schemes to the gate.
  • Heading: the main prompt.
  • Text: the explanation shown under the heading.
  • Declined message: replaces the prompt when a shopper declines.

Buttons

The Confirm button, Decline button, and Back button groups each provide:

  • Label: the text on the button.
  • Button style: Primary, Secondary, Primary outline, or Secondary outline.

The confirm button closes the gate and remembers the shopper for 30 days. The decline button shows the Declined message. The back button returns from that message to the original prompt. Clear the back button Label if you do not want to offer that return action.

Test the storefront

After saving, open the storefront in a private browser window to test a first visit. A browser that has already confirmed will skip the gate until its 30-day cookie expires or is cleared.
