About page
The theme ships a prebuilt about page template: a finished arrangement of sections for telling your store's story, so you start from a built page instead of an empty one. You pick the template on the page itself in the Shopify admin, then edit its sections in the theme editor.
A new page uses the basic page layout by default, so you switch the template to get the About design. Every section in it is a standard theme section, which you reorder, edit, hide, or remove like any other: see Sections, blocks, and groups.
The theme also ships contact and faq templates, covered in Contact page and form and FAQ page.
Assign the template to a page
- In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store, then Pages.
- Open an existing page or create a new one.
- In the Theme template box, open the dropdown and choose about.
- Save the page.
- To edit the layout, open Customize on your theme, then use the page selector at the top to navigate to that page. Its sections load in the theme editor.
Switching the Theme template leaves your page title and body text untouched. The template controls only the surrounding sections.
What the About page ships with
In the editor sidebar, from top to bottom:
- Hero slideshow: the opening image, set to run under the header. One slide carries a heading, a supporting line, and a button. See Hero slideshow.
- Valley intro: the story opener, split into two columns by a Proportional group. One column holds a Parallax photo pair block, which pairs a large photo with a smaller detail photo overlapping it. The other holds a heading, two paragraphs, and a pair of buttons.
- The people: a run of picture and text pairs laid out in two offset columns, one per person or place. See Staggered content.
- Scrolling content: a column of text (eyebrow, heading, paragraph, button, and a Timeline) beside a rail of images that moves as the visitor scrolls. See Scroll-driven sections.
- Shoppable image: one photo with four product hotspots a shopper taps to shop, under a heading group and above a button. See Shoppable image.
- Content with slider: a fixed text column beside four slides, each with an eyebrow, a short heading, a link, and its own image. See Content with slider.
Valley intro is the flexible Section with its blocks already arranged. It takes the name you give it, so rename it by clicking its name in the sidebar. The rest carry their own section names.
Sections that ship hidden
The template also carries three sections that arrive switched off. They sit in the sidebar with a dimmed name and do not appear on the page. Click the eye icon next to one to bring it in:
- Timeline: a Section holding a Timeline block, for an order journey or a process in steps.
- A plain Section with a heading, a paragraph, and a Separator, as a place to add a closing statement.
- The people (old rows): the same people as section 3, laid out as full-width rows instead of an offset stagger. Use one or the other, not both.
They are there as alternatives, not as a queue to work through. Turn on the ones that suit your story and leave the rest off.
Replace the demo content
Every section arrives with demo copy and demo photography. The photographs are licensed for the demo store and do not come with the theme, so a fresh install shows placeholder shapes in their place.
Work down the sidebar one section at a time:
- Select a block to edit its text in place.
- Use each image picker to upload your own photo.
- Point the buttons at your own collections and pages.
- In Shoppable image, set the photo first, then open each hotspot, pick one of your products, and drag the dot onto it.
If you want a lookbook
There is no separate lookbook template. Build one from the Lookbook preset in Add section, under the Storytelling group: it arrives as two rows of linked media cards with a heading above each. See Collage.
Tips
- The Hero slideshow here runs under the header, so the header sits on top of the image. Choose a slide image with quiet space along the top edge.
- Overlay this section with the header only takes effect while the hero is the first section on the page. If you move another section above it, turn the setting off or the hero loses its full-height treatment.
- Each section carries its own settings. See Common section settings for the shared color, spacing, and visibility controls, and open a section's own article for what is unique to it.
